Supportive Services for Veteran Families

The SSVF Program focuses on securing and maintaining housing for Veterans who are currently homeless or would be homeless without this assistance. It provides temporary financial assistance and services to help persons gain housing stability. The goal is for Veterans in the SSVF program to remain stably housed after this temporary assistance ends.

Supportive services available to SSVF participants:

  • Outreach Services
  • Case Management Services
  • Healthcare Navigation Services
  • Assistance obtaining VA benefits
  • Assistance obtaining other public benefits
  • Temporary financial assistance including:
  • Rental assistance
  • Security deposit assistance
  • Utility-fee payment assistance
  • General Housing Stability assistance

Eligibility

  • A veteran must currently reside in the household.
  • Veteran discharge status that does not read dishonorable.
  • Very Low-Income -making less than 80% of the area median income (AMI).
  • Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing
  • Currently residing in permanent housing and at risk of losing housing and becoming literally homeless but for SSVF assistance or
  • Currently homeless, scheduled to become a resident of permanent housing within 90 days pending the location of permanent housing or
  • Has exited permanent housing within the previous 90 days in order to seek housing that better fits with needs.

Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program

The Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) is an employment focused competitive grant program of the Department of Labor, Veterans' Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS), the only federal grant to focus exclusively on competitive employment for homeless veterans. Through this program, we provide opportunities for career advancement and job placement for willing participants who are seeking to improve their workforce options.

WHAT IS HVRP?
HVRP is a program dedicated to supporting and serving veterans who are homeless and have a motivated desire to go to work.  Eligible participants receive personalized workforce development services targeting job placement, workforce training, and career counseling support.

ELIGIBILITY?

  • Must be a homeless veteran, or at risk of homelessness
  • Must provide proof of veteran status (i.e., DD214 member form 4)
    • Must have any type of discharge status other than dishonorable
      • Must have a desire to work

 

WHAT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED?

  • HVRP works with participating Outreach programs, Partners and Employers to meet the Veteran where he or she may be.
  • HVRP conducts in-depth and ongoing assessments to determine the Veteran’s willingness to participate, identify barriers and knowledge gaps, and determine what community resources are available to eligible Veterans.
  • HVRP will work with the Veteran to identify employment goals and develop a plan to achieve success.
  • HVRP will link eligible Veterans to potential employment and training resources including, the American Job Center.
  • HVRP will follow each eligible Veteran through their employment to assure a smooth transition to the work environment.
